Agent skill

When an AI agent works in Filmera through MCP or the REST API, it writes every prompt itself, with its own model. What Filmera gives it is the craft: the same instructions Filmera's in-app agents follow when they write a character sheet, a location plate, a clip prompt or a storyboard. Connected agents read it with the get_guide tool. The agent skill is the same text as files, for agents that load skills — Claude Code, Claude, and anything else that can read a folder of Markdown.

What is in it

SKILL.md holds the operating rules — read the project first, spend credits only after you say yes, set every setting explicitly, retake instead of duplicating, keep the canvas tidy — and an index of the chapters in references/:

| Chapter | What it covers | | --- | --- | | canvas.md | Which tool does what, node settings, section naming, layout | | prompts.md | Who writes the prompt, pointing at references with @Name, what a reference set needs, first and last frames, music | | sheets.md | Filmera's sheet craft: character model sheets, empty location plates, prop sheets, expression strips, second looks | | video.md | Filmera's video craft: the timestamped prompt shape, the closing Constraints block, identity locks, first frames | | performance.md | What goes inside each beat: framing, one action, rhythm, acting, camera, dialogue, sound, continuity between clips | | story.md | Breaking a brief into scenes: scene count by length, the arc, shootable clips, continuity, plain descriptions, thumbnails | | workflows.md | Idea or script to film, reference clip to film, uploaded takes, an upscale template, music and voice | | troubleshooting.md | Content blocks, snapped settings, drift, upload and approval errors, dropped connections |

The craft chapters are copied word for word from the live instructions, except where those named the in-app agent's internal inputs — those sentences point at the MCP tools instead. When Filmera's craft changes, the skill changes with it; download it again to pick up the latest.

Install

Claude Code — unzip into your skills folder; the zip holds one filmera/ folder:

curl -L https://www.filmera.ai/skills/filmera.zip -o /tmp/filmera-skill.zip
unzip -o /tmp/filmera-skill.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

Use .claude/skills/ inside a repository instead to share it with your team. Connect the MCP server too (see MCP) — the skill is the craft, the server is the studio.

Claude (claude.ai and the desktop app) — upload filmera-skill.zip as a custom skill in the app's skill settings, and add Filmera as a connector.

Other agents — point the agent at https://www.filmera.ai/skills/filmera/SKILL.md; each chapter is at /skills/filmera/references/<chapter>.md.

The same craft inside MCP

You do not need the skill for a connected agent to follow the craft: the server's instructions send it to get_guide, which returns one chapter per call, and clients that support MCP prompts (Claude Code lists them as slash commands) get write_reference_sheets, write_video_prompts and design_story. The skill helps when an agent should know the craft before it connects, or when your client does not call tools it has not been told about.
